ABOUT STEPH

Born in Lismore NSW, Steph moved to Brisbane in 2004 to complete her university degree, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Creative Industries, majoring in Visual Art.

Steph’s work explores existential matters such space, time, reality, dreams, collective narratives, life patterns and memory. Much like a dream, stories and ideas are intuitively coded into Steph’s work with intentional ambiguity and complexity, seeking to compel viewers to really examine the work and find their own meaning.

For Steph, her art serves to distil acute memories and thoughts, cathartically transferring them into the material world. Similar to automatic writing or psychography, her drawings are like sub-conscious projections for her conscious mind to digest, to promote reflection, ideation, growth and healing.
